Venture Capital
Our client, one of the leading European venture capital firms, is looking for an Interim Financial Controller to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and will take full responsibility for management and statutory financial reporting, process improvement and team management.
Starting early 2025, it is anticipated that this will be a 12 month assignment. Previous experience of working in a similar role in the alternative assets space is essential.
Description
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts versus budget on a timely basis for the CFO to review.
- Preparation of monthly cash flows across all management and advisory entities.
- Responsible for cash management, including monitoring and reviewing bank accounts, treasury deposits, FX transactions.
- Reviewing quarterly FCA returns and other regulatory reports.
- Reviewing and preparing annual accounts.
- Liaising with the auditors for the annual audit process for the onshore and offshore entities.
- Implementing financial procedures, controls and system improvements.
- Reviewing the quarterly VAT returns , including partial exemption special method and capital goods scheme calculations and annual adjustment calculations.
- Reviewing the PSA calculations.
- Preparation of annual tax returns with tax advisors.
- Assisting with Group tax queries.
- Assisting CFO with finance transformation projects.
Skills
The skills and experience required for this Interim Financial Controller role include but are not limited to:
- Qualified Accountant with 5+ years of post-qualified experience gained in PE / VC.
- Strong technical accounting skills and previous experience of managing a team.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Excellent commercial acumen.
- Self-starter and keen to take initiative.
- Team player: open and honest: builds trust and respect
- Independent and flexible in working style: thrives in a non-corporate, entrepreneurial team.
- Able to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
