The Accounts Payable Assistant will be responsible for all aspects of the purchase ledger, posting of associated ledger transactions as required, daily cash balance monitoring and other duties as required.

Our client, a property development and investment business, is looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join the team. The Accounts Payable Assistant will be responsible for all aspects of the purchase ledger, posting of associated ledger transactions as required, daily cash balance monitoring and other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the AP cycle and have previous experience working in an AP function. The role would ideally suit someone who is looking to build on previous experience and the ideal candidate will not be afraid to ‘roll their sleeves up and get involved.

Description

The duties and responsibilities for this Accounts Payable Assistant role include but are not limited to:

  • Coding and inputting of a high volume of purchase invoices per week
  • Ensuring payments are accurately allocated and remittances sent out
  • Preparing monthly and weekly payment runs for authorisation
  • Reconciliation of purchase ledger and system accounts
  • Downloading of bank statements
  • Input into the bank reconciliation process and reconciliation of AP accounts in the general ledger
  • Handling supplier queries
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements to ledger
  • Posting of transactions into the general ledger where manual payments are made
  • Credit card transaction postings and reporting
  • Staff expense processing
  • Liaising with and obtaining appropriate payment authorisations from the business
  • Ad hoc project work as required

Skills

The skills and experience required for this Accounts Payable Assistant role include but are not limited to:

  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and demonstrates pride in their work with an ability to achieve targets while maintaining accuracy
  • Able to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • A team player with a flexible ‘can-do’ approach and attitude
  • Uses own initiative and is curious when dealing with daily tasks, looking for solutions and opportunities to make improvements to internal processes
  • Operates with respect and professionalism when dealing with all internal and external customers
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Comfortable in and embraces change
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • Previous experience within the real estate industry advantageous
