Our client seeks an Investment Accountant with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Working closely with the Treasury Manager and Investment Director, the successful individual will be reporting to the Finance Director and responsible for the control and reporting of the investment portfolios, fulfilment of investment transactions and the production of the investment company’s consolidated statutory accounts. This position is a Maternity cover for a minimum period of 12 months with a March 2025 start date.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this Investment Accountant role will include but are not limited to:

  • Producing monthly investment valuation reports for each family member, their trusts and charitable foundations as necessary, involving liaison with other offices.
  • Managing the relationship with the external provider who records the daily transactions and provides the routine reporting and accounting ledger interface.
  • Ensuring accuracy of the monthly reports produced (requires a good understanding of accounting for PE eg. carry interest, dividends, drawdowns, distributions, outstanding commitments etc.).
  • Performing reconciliations of each of the funds, at least annually, to ensure reporting is accurate.
  • Ensuring that the externally held investment ledger is accurately recorded within the company’s general ledger, including preparation and posting of monthly journals.
  • Producing cashflow analysis/projections and performance monitoring of the private equity portfolio.
  • General liaison on day to day matters including set up of new fund investments.
  • Fulfilment of investment transactions on behalf of all family members and trusts working closely with the safe custodian. This includes the preparation of instructions to custodians, moving funds and ensuring all commitments are funded and settled.
  • Routine monitoring of cash positions and portfolios held with the safe custodian, completing cash sweeps to operational accounts as required.
  • Completion of the consolidation of and statutory accounts for the investment company and managing the annual audit process and liaising with the external tax accountants.
  • Various Ad hoc duties – including providing cover for other team members when required.

Skills

The skills and experience required for this Investment Accountant role include but are not limited to:

• Experienced Fund accountant, ideally with experience gained in a Fund of Funds operation, Private Equity or Family Office.
• Solid fund reconciliation experience and investment performance reporting experience are key.
• Ability to manage conflicting pressures around busy periods.
• Excellent IT skills, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable with and experience of working with third-party service providers.
• Strong team player with an ability and willingness to work closely with colleagues. Important to be comfortable working within a small office environment.
