Venture Capital
Our client, one of the leading European venture capital firms, is looking for an Interim Head of Finance for a 9 month contract. They will report directly to the CFO and will take full responsibility for in-house fund accounting, fund administration and operations as well as tax, and regulatory matters related to the Funds. The Interim Head of Finance will also provide support to the CFO on firm-wide finance related projects.
Description
The Interim Head of Finance will lead the Fund Accounting team and have four direct reports.
Fund Accounting (US GAAP / Luxembourg GAAP)
- Review quarterly fund financials and reporting prepared by the team.
- Review other investor specific reporting as required.
- Ensuring the accounting for all fund activities including initial and follow-on investments, management fees, expenses, valuations, capital calls and distributions are in line with the relevant GAAP standards.
- Ensuring the reporting is compliant with ILPA requirements.
- Monitoring accounting developments related to the Funds and preparing accounting technical papers where necessary.
- Overseeing the annual audit for the Funds.
Fund Administration and Operations
- Responsible for cash flow monitoring and management of the Funds.
- Review capital calls, distributions and wires prepared by the team.
- Review fund equalisation entries prepared by the team.
- Prepare quarterly Board Packs for submission to the Board.
- Support Legal and Investor Relations team with managing investor transfers.
Tax
- Responsible for all Fund tax matters including significant annual US and Luxembourg tax filing requirements (e.g. K-1, annual tax returns, VAT returns).
- Responsible for all investor specific tax filings as required by the LPA.
- Addressing tax related queries from investors.
- Working with external advisors and Legal team on tax structuring for new and follow-on investments where necessary.
- Design and implement new fund structures, re-structure existing funds and schemes as required and manage of associated arrangements.
- Coordinate the wind-up of legacy fund structures and manage associated arrangements.
Skills
The Interim Head of Finance is likely to have trained in practice and have at least 3-5 years PQE experience working in PE / Venture.
- Technically very strong and very knowledgeable on PE / VC funds.
- Attention to detail and systematic.
- Hardworking and used to working in a fast-moving 24/7 environment.
- Independent and flexible in working style.
- Team player who builds trust and respect.
- Passion for the start-up ecosystem.
