We are working with a leading European asset management firm that covers strategies across private equity, debt, & real estate. With origins as a high profile UK PE specialist, they've expanded over the last decade to become a true multi-strategy investor and in anticipation of fundraising ambitions in 2025, are restructuring and expanding their fund finance team.
The London fund finance team focuses exclusively on their private equity strategy which accounts for c. €30bn of the portfolio at present. This is split between three active funds and the new Fund Controller will work across all three, responsible for both fund control and portfolio monitoring of the funds.
Reporting into an experienced Head of Funds, there is a high calibre and supportive team to work alongside.
If you currently hold a Fund Accountant position in a similar organisation, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skillset and prepare you for CFO opportunities in the future.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities for this Fund Controller role include but are not limited to:
- Management and oversight of external Fund Administrators, fund accounting, administration, CoSec and Investor Relations teams.
- Oversight and responsibility for fund financial reporting for three funds and quarterly fair value process in accordance with IPEV guidelines.
- Oversight and responsibility for quarterly NAV and capital account reporting.
- Coordination and review of fair value models prepared by deal teams and preparation of the fair valuation pack to be presented to the valuation committee.
- Investor capital calls and distributions.
- Integration of best-in-class operating model.
- Co-ordination of external tax advisors.
- Deal facilitation and structuring.
- Portfolio monitoring.
- Ad-hoc responsibilities as required.
Skills
The skills and experience required for this Fund Controller role include but are not limited to:
- Degree educated to Bachelors level.
- ACA qualified (or equivalent) with 2-4 years in a Private Equity or equivalent alternative investor.
- Knowledge and experience of working with closed-ended fund structures and IPEV valuation guidelines.
- Adept at managing stakeholders, both internally and externally as well as key outsourced service providers.
- Highly analytical and motivated to build a best in class functions.
