Description

We are now seeking a UK&I Business Finance Lead to manage FP&A and Commercial Finance as well as take full financial ownership of a £500m turnover BU within a £ 1 billion turnover division. Reporting to the Head of Business Finance, you will be a Strategic Planning and Commercial Finance Lead, who will play a pivotal role in driving the success of this division through Projects and Equipment revenue model. This position requires strong leadership, a sharp focus on detail, a drive for high performance, and a strategic mindset to maximize sustainable and profitable growth.

Much of the work is based on short to medium term projects of around 2 to 3 years. You would be heavily involved in delivering these projects and calculating outcomes from inception to execution. The projects can range in value from as low as £1m to some in the £100’s of millions, so previous long term Project Accounting experience is essential to succeed in this role. As well as being commercially minded, you will need to be technically strong and ideally understand IFRS 15 and Revenue Recognition as you will have full responsibility for the BU P&L. This role is ultimately commercial and strategic as it is aimed at driving consistent profitable growth within the Business Unit.

Additional responsibilities include servicing as the primary contact for the business unit and establishing and driving clear monthly and annual performance targets. Participate in the internal control process for reviewing deals, ensuring that all financial aspects are thoroughly evaluated as part of the approval chain. You will take charge of all month-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles and regulatory standards and act decisively to resolve any discrepancies and streamline processes for timely reporting. You will oversee project accounting by tracking costs and ensuring alignment with financial forecasts.

In addition, you will drive the team to provide regular reporting to stakeholders on project status, risks, variances, and financial performance to support informed decision-making and champion labour rate campaign and drive improvements on key KPIs.

Skills

The ideal candidate for this UK&I Business Finance Lead role will be a degree educated qualified accountant, (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with ideally circa 8 to 10 years combined experience of accounting and finance in both a public practice and industry environment. You will be a strong leader and communicator and be able to business partner at all levels across the business.

In addition, you will possess a combination of technical and commercial accounting skills and have proven experience of project accounting for long time projects.  In terms of progression, the business has a strong track record of moving people around internally, so it is highly possible that you will have opportunities to work in other areas of the business over time.
