ESG & Sustainability
Our commitment
We passionately believe in contributing to a better world. As a people business, we greatly value the contribution of all colleagues and we are proud of our diverse, inclusive and collaborative culture. We are also deeply committed to encouraging and supporting diversity, inclusion and social mobility when working with our clients and we actively support philanthropy and volunteering.
Data protection
Recruiters - people like us - are trusted with highly personal information, day in, day out. We take this responsibility incredibly seriously. We know what the Data Protection Act says: we agree with it and work really hard to ensure that we adhere to it. Fundamentally, we will not process data without permission.
Diversity
One aspect of ESG where we can have a significant impact every day is to be ethical and fair in the way that we treat everyone who we work with, whether they’re a client, a candidate, or anyone else who provides us with a service, or with whom we come into contact. We will not discriminate on any grounds.
Philanthropy and volunteering
Philanthropy and Volunteering are ways in which we can support the people and communities around us. We have a policy of supporting colleagues, clients, candidates and other contacts close to Walker Hamill in their philanthropic endeavours.
In recent years significant amounts have been raised by both individuals and teams in fund raising for charities including Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Thames Hospice, Asthma + Lung UK, The Barrows Charitable Trust, The Charlie Waller Trust, Shelter and The World’s Big Sleep Out.
For several years now Walker Hamill has also entered a team in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in London with charitable donations going to local not-for-profit organisations.
Additional personal and corporate donations include supporting My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, The Hummingbird Project NI, Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, Parkinson’s Disease UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, Newbury Riding for the Disabled, Prostate Cancer UK, Alzheimers Society, Barnardo’s, The House of St Barnabas in Soho, 40tude, PACE, ASSERT, the William Wates Memorial Trust, The Prince’s Trust, St Mark’s Hospital, Raleigh International, The Haller Foundation, Together for Short Lives, The Children’s Foundation, Starfish and Environmental Vision.
In 2022 a significant corporate donation was made to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Walker Hamill will also volunteer time and recruitment services where we are close to the cause and have personal connections and can assist in securing both executive and non-executive recruits for organisations with charitable status.
Equality and diversity
As an employer, Walker Hamill is committed to equality and diversity within its workforce.
Our goal is to ensure that these commitments, reinforced by our values, are embedded in our day-to-day working practices with all our clients, candidates, colleagues and partners.
We will provide equality of opportunity and will not tolerate discrimination on grounds of gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, race, colour, nationality, religion, age, disability, HIV positivity, working pattern, caring responsibilities, trade union activity or political beliefs – or any other grounds.
