The role of the Financial Controller will oversee a small, high quality team responsible for the financial operations and management reporting requirements of the business. The FC will act as a deputy and second in command to the experience CFO, as well as being a trusted business partner to the leadership team and other departments across the firm.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this Financial Controller role include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership: mentoring and managing the finance team, supporting their development and career progression.
  • Financial & Management Reporting: owning the Management Pack and month-end process, including sign-off and presentation to the CFO, as well as overseeing the year-end and audit processes.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: owning the forecasting processes, allowing management across the firm to understand current business performance and profitability, as well as communicating opportunities to support the firm’s growth.
  • Cash-Flow Management: owning the cash-flow models, ensuring that management and project teams understand their pipeline, whilst also mitigating risks.
  • Finance Business Partnering: outside of the stakeholder management required for the core duties outlined above, the FC will also provide insight and analysis to Head of Project Management and their teams, covering project costs and revenue.
  • Ad-Hoc: various responsibilities and projects as required by the CFO or by the wider business.
  • Systems: championing systems across the firm’s offices.

Qualifications

The skills and experience required for this Financial Controller role include but are not limited to:

  • Chartered accounting qualification gained in public practice.
  • Industry experience gained in the finance function, including team management responsibility.
  • Confidence and gravitas to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and across all functions.
  • Communication skills that enable ideas to be expressed in a considered and succinct manner across a multicultural environment.
  • Relevant sector experience is not essential, although candidates should have a clear interest in design and architecture.
