An opportunity for a Group Accountant has arisen within the Central London finance team of a global luxury retail business. Initially for a period of 6-12 months, the role requires a finalist / newly qualified professional with strong technical skills. Working as part of the team responsible for the consolidation of group accounts, the successful individual will oversee audit and provide senior management with essential corporate support.

Description

The Group Accountant's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly consolidation, reports and reviews. 
  • Ensure consolidation is accurate, prepare and review periodic schedules to identify issues and resolve them. 
  • Assist with the half-year and full-year statutory reporting in accordance with FRS102 including liaising with external auditors.
  • Other ad hoc duties including preparation and/or review of SWA rates and balance sheet rates, group intercompany control, reconciliation of group finance to management information P&L, group FX analysis and requests for additional reporting from senior management.
  • Assist with reporting and management of the dormant and holdings companies.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the yearly statutory financial statements for UK entities (dormant and holding companies) for submission to Companies House.
  • Oversee the completion and submission of the statistical returns in compliance with the requirements set out by the Office for National Statistics.
  • Involvement with ad hoc projects such as process implementation.

Skills

  • Newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA or equivalent.
  • Strong in fundamentals of FRS102 (UK GAAP). IFRS essential.
  • Multi-currency consolidation knowledge required.
  • Previous use of financial consolidation and Close Cloud Service (FCCS) or similar consolidation system preferred.  
  • Strong in Microsoft suite in particular Excel but also Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Good organisation skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Team orientated, ensures that team deliverables are met to a high standard.
  • Effective communicator with financial and non-financial staff (both written and oral).
  • Ability to rationalise problems and suggest process improvements/action.
  •  Highly motivated to identify and make improvements to processes and controls.
