Description

There now exists an exceptional opportunity to join the company in the highly influential position of Group Finance Director. Reporting to the main shareholder, you will be directly responsible for the accounting, audit, insurance, tax, banking and treasury functions for the company, whilst overseeing these functions in other group subsidiaries. The role manages the finance team of four and the IT team of three, as well as maintaining relationships with overseas finance teams where they exist. The FD will be responsible for managing the banking facilities and negotiating new facilities as required, co-ordinating the use of borrowing facilities of all group companies as appropriate. The role is also responsible for the preparation of annual budgets for the group and as a statutory director the FD will attend the Director’s quarterly management meetings, providing both regular and ad-hoc analysis where required.

The successful candidate is expected to be highly numerate, articulate and an effective communicator. The FD is required to have a professional accounting qualification and is likely to be educated to degree level, with a STEM or law degree being an advantage. Candidates must be able to display stability and loyalty, along with substantial experience in a senior financial role, possibly operating at Director level already. Prior experience working for a family business or similar privately owned company is highly desirable, where emotional intelligence is required to guide and advise the owner directors. There is also a strong preference for relevant sector experience, gained in another business that has interests in manufacturing, trading or commodities.
